About Paropakar Boys Orphanage
The original building that housed the boys in Paropakar was severely damaged as a result of the earthquake that shook Nepal in 2015, and the 30+ boys have since been evacuated from the building and were moved to a remote location in Duwakot (20km East of Kathmandu).
A small group of us travelled to Nepal in June 2016 and subsequently raised funds to provide the orphans with all the immediate basic items and work required including the following:
1. Installing a new water filter, solar heating system, new fans, new lockers
2. Supplying a computer, cushions/beanbags and carpet for study room
3. Replacing the windows in the main building
4. Replacing the bedroom doors, curtains, bedding; and carpets in the bedrooms
5. Re-painting bedrooms
We hope that with the additional money raised, we can provide the boys with more basic necessities and ultimately aim to rebuild/repair the orphanage in Kathmandu.
We also hope, in the longer term, to support Paropakar Orphanage's administrative function and help it become more financially independent and also turn it into more of an education center so to attract more children into a learning environment in Nepal (as a child in school is proven to be at a significantly lower risk of being trafficked - a big problem in Nepal).
In our first round of fundraising, we managed to raise around US$15,000. Please donate generously, so that we are able to reach our fundraising target and deliver on our objective.
Thank you in advance for your kind generosity and for supporting our efforts in a project that means so much to us.
