I am a returned graduate from Sweden and have been observing the parental leave legislation is inflexible and unchanged for 20 years in Hong Kong and Asia and would like to do something on this issue.

In Sweden, parents are entitled to 480 days of paid parental leave when a child is born or adopted. This number is super high by international standards and is perhaps Sweden’s most famous argument when it comes to being a child-friendly system.

For 390 of the days, parents are entitled to nearly 80 per cent of their normal pay. Benefits are calculated on a maximum monthly income of SEK 37,083, as of 2015. The remaining 90 days are paid at a flat rate. Those who are not in employment are also entitled to paid parental leave.

The situation in Hong Kong is most mom choose to be stay home mom without any paid or working mom 10 weeks of paid maternity leave, dad only have 5 days maternity leave.

The HK government is doing something in government department but that is not enough!

We have 1.4 millions Business Entities, 4.2 millions employees or paid person but our birth rate is 1.2 per 1000.

Actions I will take:

For USD 10000 I will spend the money on business operation and website update with CTO and ensure the claim handle by local team

I hope this help me to match the first 1~10 dad and mom in Hong Kong to enjoy their parental leave by the end of 2019 and hire more people to assist more dad and mom from 1980s from the first stage.

The terms and conditions for selected parents is they will receive HKD 4,000 each month with paid employment contract, 2 half day off and HKD 4,000 goes to co-worker who share their workload for 10 continue months under the agreement with current employer to secure their job during this period.

I want to run a business to support the dad and mom in Hong Kong to enjoy 2 half days holiday and pay their co-worker who share their workload.

This will be start from support from you and build a parental leave system on the cloud for Hong Kong at the moment.
