Help me to open my restaurant in Samos Town! I am a refugee from Palestine and I arrived in Samos in 2017. Opening this restaurant will allow me to build my life, and to support many other refugees here in Samos.
This restaurant was previously owned by two amazing guys however it was damaged by the October 2020 Earthquake and until now remains closed, with a lot to be fixed. This restaurant was always there to support the refugee population here in Vathy and has always been run by refugees, such as myself. It was always somewhere where people were welcome to get out of the camp, to be treated as humans, to eat delicious, halal, Arabic food for affordable prices. It has never been more important to have a welcoming place, given the imminent transfer of all the asylum seekers to a new closed camp.
I will work alongside several skilled refugees who need it - given the lack of job opportunities and integration here. We also want to support people however we can - many single men don't get any support from the NGOs; but in the Palestinian Restaurant they will never be forgotten.
In order to make this dream a reality, a lot of work needs to be done. Money is needed for all of the damaged equipment, to fix the electricity, to re-decorate, new furniture, the water contracts, everything! I want to open the restaurant as soon as possible. Ideally while people are still living in Vathy, to show them what's on offer and what will always be here waiting for them, even when they move to the isolated camp in Zervou.
Anything you can give will help to support and empower the refugees here in Vathy. Please also share this fundraiser. Thank you so much!
