Campaign Story
On 17th October 2016, the UNESCO Youth Forum Kenya, in collaboration with the German teamGLOBAL initiative and Kenya Broadcasting Cooperation (KBC) organized a ‘PAINTING FOR PEACE’ youth workshop in commemoration of the United Nations ‘International Day for the Eradication of Poverty’. The event took place at Kibera Blessed Academy primary-school in Kibera District, Nairobi and focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s UN theme, “Moving from humiliation and exclusion to participation: Ending poverty in all its forms” was used as a motivation to include primary-school children in the process of participation and empowerment to create awareness on the SDGs in general, and issues of poverty in relation to education, health, and other essential services in particular. After a brainstorming lesson on the biggest challenges faced by the world today and a short introduction into the 17 UN Global Goals as ways of solution, the pupils painted a picture on the Goal that they perceive as the most important.
To give back to the students, appreciate their creative work and finance a small part of their education, UNESCO Youth Forum Kenya has set up this fundraising campaign in which we sell the paintings of the pupils against a donation by YOU! The amount of money you donate is not limited and not set. You can donate as much as you want - the only thing that matters is that we reach our target of $1000.
Thank you very much for your help!
