Hi! I'm Charlotte, a second year children's nursing student at university embarking on an adventure to Sri Lanka to enhance my training in becoming a Children's Nurse.

I have signed up to the medical project with the company Plan My Gap Year which will take place over 3 weeks in August 2018. I will be volunteering within a hospital and health clinics within Ambalangoda (Sri Lanka). Here I will have the opportunity to work along-side medical staff in various areas and share experience with local Sri Lankan people and families in need of medical help. I will also be volunteering in the teaching project and orphanage project where hands on experience with children will be involved and the opportunity to teach English, basic care and promoting health will be projected, as well as having fun and making them smile!

What will your donations go towards?

Taking part in an international elective is optional through university, I have chosen to take an elective abroad as I feel it will provide me with invaluable life experiences that I can transfer into my future career as a children's nurse and give me hands on experience in a developing health care system, as well as making a small positive difference to the families and children I will come into contact with.

Donations raised will go towards my expenses of the trip as this is entirely self funded. This includes accommodation, transport to placements, daily food, and in-country support.

I will also be taking some of the donated funds with me to purchase any resources that are needed on any of the projects I am involved in, this could include such things as clothes, toiletries, paper, stationary, and a donation to the hospital/clinics to buy essential equipment.

Thank you for reading! Any donations will be greatly appreciated! Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions!

Charlotte :)
