Campaign Story
Hi, I'm Jade, a second year children's nursing student at university embarking on an experience of supporting 30-40 people on a pilgrimage to Lourdes.
The trip is organised with Birmingham Diocese, where for a full week pilgrims with a variety of nursing needs, travel to Lourdes and are supported by a range of qualified staff, unqualified carers and students like myself.
The week is focused on religious pastimes - mass, processions, the baths, stations of the cross etc, and pilgrims are supported so that they are able to attend.
Taking part is optional through university, but for myself, I am keen to attend as I believe that it will be a very humbling experience and one that will provide me with invaluable life experience that I can transfer into my future nursing career and give me hands on experience in a different setting with a group of people that I wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity of working with.
I am taking every opportunity that I can throughout my nurse training to enhance my skills and knowledge so that I can be the best nurse I can.

Training Day
Update posted by Jade Hughes at 06:18 pmHad a very enjoyable day today, we went to St Chad's in Birmingham for a training day in preparation for our trip to Lourdes. We completed basic life support training, manual handling training and talks on safeguarding, dementia and nutrition and hydration. We also got to meet more of the

I'm very excited though and I'm looking forward to the training days to prepare me!
