Pacemaker & school fees for Veronica

Update posted by Vivian van Eeden On Jun 25, 2017

yay June exams are over ๐Ÿ˜„ Veronica is confident she did well in most of them except accounting (missed to many classes as was off sick).

With school holidays now Veronica is resting and building strength for next term.

The heart monitor is working well and we look forward to her review with Prof Brink at the end of the year to see what the recordings confirm.

Will update you again after Veronica's next follow up with Prof Brink at the end of the year.

Thanks everyone

You go girl!!! Maybe you can get a tutor during the holidays to help with the accounting? But most of all build up your strength for a super bright future!!

Veronica's internal heart monitor is working well. She is due for Prof to review recordings in 3 months time. Veronica has a wrist BP/heart monitor with her at all times as well to record manually her passing out/temp paralysis events as well. (Pics added into main page)

Yesterday she returned to school and wrote her first matric exams! Veronica has someone privately in attendance for medical assistance at each practical exam as requested by the school.

Woohoo!

We still need to raise R25,000 to pay the remaining outstanding school fees asap......pls keep sharing this page so we can reach some much needed donors for this...

Will keep you all updated.

Hugs and blessings to all.

So finally I managed to organise a thank you surprise for those children in the video & Veronica's class that always help her during her blackouts in school.

They were picked up on the Saturday afternoon by tourist bus and taken to Gordons Bay spur to get out and about.

They had a wonderfull spur lunch as thanks for all their support and SA Ubuntu spirit. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Good luck to all of them during their matric exams these next few weeks!

(Pics updated on main post and event paid for by myself privately in full and not out of this fundraising)

Veronica's appointment went well with Professor Brink.

She is now having a heart monitor implanted for 6 months. Along with this we have also bought two wrist BP monitors (one for school & one for home) which she must record regularly for Professor Brink.

http://www.medtronic.com/us-en/patients/treatments...

At the end of the monitoring process Professor Brink will then confirm the next steps....

Will keep you all updated.

Thanks

woohoo! Thanks to an anonymous EU donor offline we have reached our target R150,000!!!

I am going to reallocate my donated R10,000 to Veronica's oustanding R30,000 school fees from the last 3 years.....

I am leaving the campaign open should anyone wish to donate towards the remaining R20,000 school fees overdue......

photo

Wow, Vivian, thanks for the update! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, specifically to the anonymous EU donor, for saving Veronica’s life with this generous donation. I have been in such despair at this family’s plight. I wish I had more to give to help get the last R20,000 paid so that Veronica can get back to school and finish her matric this year. Please everyone, if you have a little bit to help this family, now is the time, it’s May already, if Veronica can get her education, there will be a brighter future for this family that surely deserve our support. Without this last R20,000 she will not be allowed back to school. What if it were your family?

The ECG halter that Veronica wore has now had test results in.

She has now been referred to Professor Brink at Tygerberg Hospital for further tests to be undertaken.

In the meantime Veronica is still at home until she has seen Proffessor Brink when he can then write a letter to the school to confirm her medical status and hopefully then she will be allowes back in school to continue her Matric.

Will keep you all updated. Thanks again for all your support for Veronica.

Dear Donors

I have had an enquiry to disclose the background of this fundraising campaign and myself which I am more than happy to inform.

I am not a friend/family member/aquaintance of the Venter family. Until I saw the video above on a facebook post I had not heard of this family before. I have taken it upon myself to raise funds needed for all medical related costs for tests/medication/surgery needed to correct Veronicas health condition.

I am also in no way associated or had dealings past or present with De Graaff Villiers High School. I paid the outsanding accomodation fees owed by the Venter family to the school to help reduce the families financial burden while they go through Veronica's health ordeal and to ease relations between the family and the school.

Any issues between the family and the school are completely seperate from this campaign and are confidential. A volunteer mediary is in the process of ensuring any issues between them are resolved to everyones benefit.

None of the funds raised in this campaign are paid to any of the family members. Funds are paid directly to the medical costs/accounts etc for the health and well being of Veronica Ventor.

Should there be any left over funds once her medical issues/surgeries/postcare/ treatments etc are all completed and she has been declared in full health, then any remaining funds will be used to pay for Veronicas outstanding school fees and education as there is a no refund policy on gogetfunding campaigns.

If you have any queries relating to the above or the campaign then please feel free to contact me directly.

Sincerely

Vivian van Eeden

I am fully backing your wonderful gesture, Vivian. I am in the same position as you. I was only able to donate a small amount, but I feel so strongly for Veronica and her family. Surely we can all pull together to help them out? Such a lot of compassion on-line, please help donate, every little bit will bring her closer to getting her health back so that she can concentrate on getting her education and in turn, this will help her get employment to look after her family, too. Thanks.

The first part of process is underway - Veronica is currently wearing an ECG Cardio harness monitor for 48 hours which we arranged through private NetCare Medical Cardio unit. Once the readings are in NetCarde Cardio team will make an updated diagnosis and recommendation.

I will keep you all updated on progress and thank you all again for your support.

Pls keep sharing this post.

Veronica Venter

Veronica is a bright bubbly girl who celebrated her 17th birthday just 2 weeks ago. She is full of determination, promise and hope.

I first came accross Veronica when her sister uploaded a FB video of the wonderful school boys who carried Veronica all the way home after another heart issue (watch details on video here). These amaising caring gentleman in the video inspired so many people! The video was viewed at that time 55 000 times, wow.

If those boys could show such humanity and caring...then surely others could do the same and help her get the medical surgery she needs but can never afford in order to have a normal life ....

So I decided to push FB and shared everywhere....along with others the inspirational video has been viewed 178 000 times (upon writing this) with over 1.3 million post followers!

So now I would like to ask each and everyone of you - please help us raise the R150,000 her family needs to give her the life changing heart pacemaker surgery that she needs!

Only R100 per person and we could have the funds within weeks ๐Ÿ˜‰ pls no matter how small your donation it will change this wonderful girl's life for the better and allow her and her family to continue as they are by helping others in need without crippling education and health medical debt drowning them.

Mom Alida Venter moved her family down to villiersdorp from the free state 5 years ago to start her own npo helping underage children with drug addiction in the local 'squattercamps' underpriveledged areas.

Mom Alida was a teacher and up until 2 years ago had a teaching post locally when she had to resign due to contracting TB. Obviously during this time her income dropped to just R2,000 from continuing her NPO work...and family finances suffered severely. Upon full recovery mom Alida has continued to apply for new teaching posts however on the current SA economic and BEE climate has not been successfull yet.

This has impacted on Veronica's school fees falling behind and in 2 years climbed to R30,000 oustanding as well as their school hostel fees for the single room hired to mom Alida and her 2 daughters climbing up to R10,000 oustanding.

Despite the huge outstanding sums owed to the school, De Graaff Villiers High have been supportive in education for Veronica and accomodation for the family albeit single room space.

A seperate campaign is being started to help raise funds for these oustanding sums...with the hostel fees now paid in full and just the R30,000 school fees left to sort out. Veronica cannot matriculate without all fees being paid.....

I will post updates of Veronica and her health issues and life adventures.

For any questions relating to the family or Veronica please contact me on [email protected]

Sincerely

Vivian van Eeden
