In summer 2017, medical students from the International Federation of Medical Students' Association (IFMSA) in Örebro will bike from Stockholm to Oslo for the second time to raise awareness of maternal and newborn health and fundraise for the Swedish Organization for Global Health's Maama Project.

The Maama Project takes place in southeastern Uganda where the health care resources are limited and the challenges are many. Working in collaboration with a local NGO and community leaders, the Maama Project has harnessed the power of communities by training community health workers to address many of the difficulties facing mothers and their newborn infants. Mothers in the project area receive 4 visits to the local health facility and a free birth kit which contains necessary items for a safe delivery.

Donation suggestions:

6$ (50 SEK) = 1 clean birth kit

40$ (330 SEK) = training for 1 community health worker

60$ (500 SEK) = provide birth kits and home visits to 5 women
