Dear Family, Friends and fellow Indians

I'm witnessing the most horrific situation of fear, hurt, loss and anguish as I write to you from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh in India. Still, I see hope as India deals with this crisis, which is devastating millions of lives. Hope is all most Indians have to hold onto right now, hope for help, hope for kindness, hope that their Mums, Dads, Grandparents and Children survive this pandemic.

The situation on the ground is dreadful, and there is utter chaos everywhere. I can only describe it as being in the aftermath of a war zone. So much pain and hurt, it's heartbreaking. Millions of families have been ripped apart, just like that.

Local authorities struggle to provide basic essential things like food rations, a lifeline for many daily wage earners. So instead, they go out looking for food without a mask because they cannot afford it, worsening the situation because they bring the virus into their village and households. Thousands and thousands of people are dead, the numbers are skewed, and no one knows the actual count; however, analysts estimate that more than 1 million people have died of Covid in India to date, and the virus is yet to peak in the next 4/5 days.

It's devastating watching families torn apart. So I decided it was time to stop being a spectator and find a way to help. There is no government stimulus programme in India, just a weekly 5kg ration of rice and dhal combined. Medical aid is arriving internationally, but that's not enough. People are lying on pavements outside hospitals, dying due to lack of oxygen. In a desperate attempt to save their loved ones, some even resort to providing mouth to mouth resuscitation, infecting themselves in the process. Unfortunately, for some, it proves fatal.

I'm appealing to your better nature for your assistance of help.

Right now, the most urgent need is for oxygen, and we are fundraising to purchase Manual Air-Pump Oxygen Masks Resuscitators. We have a team of local volunteers who will help distribute these outside hospitals, villages, and households that need them. The average daily wage for some of these folks is just $5, and the cost of a decent Manual Air-Pump Oxygen Mask Resuscitator cost between $15-$25, making it inaccessible to many.

A donation of $10 will give people a much-needed lifeline they so desperately need, a chance to live. It will also enable us to bulk-buy masks at a much cheaper negotiated rate. The more we buy, the cheaper it gets.

We live through a difficult period currently, and I appreciate that not everyone can contribute at this time.
