My name is Thobeka Shezi a third year student pursuing a career in electrical engineering at the University of the witwatersrand. I am owing University fees and I cannot register this year, I need to at least raise 50% of my outstanding balance to register.
I am an academically driven individual who believes in only doing her best and sees her shortcomings as an opportunity for improvement. I always give my best and don't believe in mediocre work, but total excellence.
Being a young lady from a disadvantaged home and neighborhood, I strive at being the best version I can be so as to set a good example to all other girls who, like me were inspired by a dream and are willing to achieve it against all odds. I know the cliché about a poor kid wanting to make a difference but with me it's different, I want to inspire young girls to see the beauty and strength in themselves, like our former miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi, who has inspired a girl to take pride in their natural beauty and acknowledge her strengths. I want to inspire that very same girl to believe in the power of being educated and making a difference using her wits without any reliance on anyone but strive for excellence in their independence, making not only their families proud but the community at large.
Securing these funds will not only help me achieve my dream but it will also help me continue inspiring that young girl that has been constantly told that they are on their own and have to work twice as much to make their mark live a comfortable life.
Thank you for taking interest in my story and for willing to keep my dream alive.
All funds raised will be paid directly to the relevant institution.
