I am currently a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity (TKE), Upsilon-Tau Chapter at California State University, Stanislaus. I am trying to raise money to attend the Out and Greek Conference held in Costa Mesa, California from April 11th - April 13th, 2013.
"The OUT & GREEK LGBT & Ally Conference is the only conference of its kind for LGBT and ally fraternity and sorority leaders to share, network and learn strategies to create safer, more LGBT inclusive fraternity and sorority communities."
I am hoping to attend this conference to learn how to not only bring diversity to my chapter, but to my campus as a whole. I am a gay student, and I strive to see the day when my sexuality is an afterthought, and not a foreground of who my perceived character and personality are. I hope to spread all the messages from this conference to my campus, not only pertaining to Greek Life, but to all students as a whole.
To attend the conference, the registration is $255 (up until April 1st; the Out and Greek Conference Cooridinator, Kyle Jordan, is giving me the members rate, so yay). This total does NOT include room and board (which, as of this posting, the hotel rates are $179 a night for the two nights I need it), some meals, or travelling costs. So, as you can see, I need all the help I can get!
So far, I have raised $300, with the help of my campus' Greek Life United (GLU). Thanks so much! But I still have a long way to go! And with your help, you can help me spread the ideas of diversity, equality, acceptance, and knowledge to a whole university campus!
