US$25,983raised of $25,000.00 goal goal
Sama Gaza is a registered non-profit in Jordan, whose mission is to alleviate and improve the conditions of Palestinian refugees in Jordan. Established in 2014, our focus is on camp development and youth empowerment. Hiba Khoury, manager of this campaign, is co-founder of Sama Gaza. Our team is composed of Jordanian nationals, Palestinian refugees and global citizens in solidarity.
We work in Palestinian refugee camps all over Jordan and are especially committed to the plight of Gazan refugees in Jordan. These 35,000 refugees who fled the Gaza Strip in 1967 face special circumstances of citizenship that impacts their livelihood and ability to work in Jordan.
According to UNRWA, the poorest Palestinian camp in Jordan is Jerash Camp, or as it is more commonly known, Gaza Camp. The majority of inhabitants live on less than $2 a day. Most rely on day to day labor for income. Due to the national COVID19 lockdown in Jordan, this labor has become impossible and families have no source of income to purchase basic food items and necessities.
Our goal is to reach 5000 Palestinian refugee families across Jordan who have been impacted by the COVID19 lockdown. We seek to supply each family with a food package. One food package feeds a family of six for one month. One food package includes:
- Sugar (4kg)
- Rice (4 kg)
- Cooking oil (1.6 liter)
- Lentils (2)
- Za’atar (dried thyme) (400 g)
- Halawa Sweets (350 g)
- Pasta (8 boxes)
- Salt (2 bags)
- Tomatoes (135 g, 8)
- Fava Beans (6 cans)
- Sardines (5 cans)
- Chicken Broth (10-12 count)
- Tea (100 teabags)
- Tuna (160 g)
- Ghee (1.7 liter)
- Luncheon (cold cuts) (800 g)
The cost of each food package is 25 JD or roughly 40 USD. To provide food packages for 5000 families, the cost will be 125000 JD or 200000 USD. This funding is critical in providing for the most vulnerable in Jordan, especially during the month of Ramadan. If the COVID19 crisis continues, we will seek more funding to resupply food packages for Palestinian refugee families, and meet other basic living needs.
We have set our minimum goal to 100000 USD and hope that you will join us in actualizing our duty to our people. By donating and sharing you support a family during the COVID19 lockdown.
