Our own Miracle- Toppet’s Medical Treatment

This is my brother Gerard, he is our eldest & he is fondly called "Toppet". I call him "manong".

He had Polio when he was 2 yrs & 8 months old. But that didn't stop him from fulfilling his dreams & sharing his knowledge.He started teaching @ palawan state university in 1998. Last april 23,2017 he had a stroke. His blood sugar shoot up together w/ his blood pressure, the heat of the summer add up causing his stroke. Doctor's diagnosis:

CVD BLEED L BASAL GANGLIA

HOSPITAL ACQUIRED PNEUMONIA

RESOLVE STAGHORN CALCULUS L METER

There's bleeding in his left brain, right part of the body is paralized and he has trouble speaking. It took us 11 days before we can bring him to manila for CT scan because his blood pressure was unstable, and we cannot afford to rent an air ambulance to bring him to manila. Travel by commercial flight is not allowed and by sea is also risky because of time constraint. Thankfully the doctor in culion hospital did a really great job taking care of my manong. The neurologist in manila told us that it's a miracle that manong is still w/ us now, because w/ his bleeding ,11 days is too long to be addressed. He was unconscious the whole time. 26 days of sleepless nights, we are finally out of the hospital. He is not yet 100% ok. He still has bleeding in his brain, he is still unaware of what's going on & still could'nt speak, but the doctor said, she is confident that his bleeding is subsiding/healing. We we're discharged because his pneumonia kept coming back, That's why even if he still can't talk and move his right body part, we need to go home to minimize the risk of pneumonia. He is getting better everyday, but we still have a long way to go. We stayed in manila for two months for his check ups and therapy.

Present time:

My brother is confined again here at Culion Hospital because of cholecystitis. We need to bring him to manila for operation. Because in his case laparoscopic surgery is the best option. It's been only (less than) 6 months since his stroke & any operation is very High Risk.

We are up to our heads with the medical expenses & now he is fighting another battle. We are knocking on your good heart for a kind and generous help to these on-going medical expenses for my brother specially for his laparoscopic surgery. May you be blessed a thousandfolds.
