Campaign Story
My husband Hannes 40 and I Natalie 34 have been married since November 2009. We started trying to conceive immediately, however have had many obsticles in our journey since then.
In 2011 we went to ob/gyn for an annual check up and doctor found a 3cm/5cm complexed cyst on my right ovary. I was then scheduled for an operation to get . Due to the fact that it was a complexed cyst a Caesar cut was scheduled to remove the cyst. During to the size and damage the cyst had caused (due to appendicitis when I was young) our doctor had to remove my Fallopian tube during the operation so our chances of conceiving dropped by 50%. Upon our post-operation consultation our doctor then stated all was good and that we should be able to conceive within a year.
2012 A year later still no pregnancy so we changed ob/gyns and went for a second opinion. She saw another cyst and placed me on medication to see whether the cyst would burst by itself, however a month later the cyst was still there and I was scheduled for another operation. This time the operation was a laparoscopy and the doctor could not continue with the operation as through the incisions she suspected that I had endometriosis and transferred me to the fertility specialist.
2013 we scheduled our consultation with our new fertility specialist (which is not cheap). We did a run through my history and he also mentioned that he thought that I had endometriosis. He did a scan to assess the situation and confirmed that I had a cyst and scheduled to operated. He said that i looked like spider man had webbed my insides. He also stated that he thought that I was a hopeless cause and did not know whether he would be able to assist me. All this damage had been caused by my 1st ob/gyn. My uterus had been pushed back, he did not remove my entire fallopian tube only 1/2. After a 3 hour operation he was able to place my uterus in the correct position and remove scar tissue and cleaned my remaining fallopian tube. He then suggested that I go onto fertility tablets. After 3 cycles we still were not pregnant, but decided to take a break as we were relocating and in a couple of months which would surely cause unnecessary stress.
2014 we relocated and were referred to another fertility doctor in our area. He went through my history, did a scan and all looked good no cysts (thank goodness). He placed us on another cycle of fertility medication, but this round of medication did not produce the necessary amount of eggs, so suggested that we do artificial insemination. Due to the fees involved and that we would more than likely need more than 1 cycle of this, we do not have the finances after saving for a year. If this procedure doe not work we would then need to look at IVF which is more expensive.
Due to the fact that infertility is not covered by medical insurance, We are asking for help, to start our family.
