Glenda’s fight against diabetes

Glenda - she came to our lives when she became my wife's classmate and college best friend circa 2002. She was there when my wife and I got married in 2003 and she became one of our son's godmothers in 2004.

Glenda is bubbly, full of life, extremely funny and she was always there during hard times. She's one of those people whose presence, alone, makes you feel like you can take on anything life throws at you - like Ms. Doubtfire if you catch the drift.

Glenda had a father and a twin sister (Gleirish) - both lost their battles against diabetes. Yes, it runs in their family. And yes, it is among the leading causes of death in the Philippines and around the world.

Today, Glenda is fighting the same battle. She has stage 4 kidney failure and continues to survive through dialysis, medicines, and diet. She needs 1) A new kidney and 2) Funds to support operation.

We believe the amount we targeted in this fundraising campaign is enough to support these needs. Her mother, brother, and (another) sister made arrangements locally as well to help support her (i.e. discounted prices for the use of our government's hospital facilities to administer the operation, etc.).

We are not 100% sure the operation will cure her for good. But Glenda is a fighter. She has survived longer than most people who had the same condition. We only hope to help her get a fighting chance - like giving soldiers the best equipment and gear when they ship out to war.

It is not easy to find a friend as loyal as consistent and sincere as she is.
