My name is Dr Ian orwa. I'm an orthopedic surgeon under PAACS Program and medsend grant recipient trained at Tenwek orthopedics. I am currently stationed at jumuia hospital Kaimosi. This is a small 100 bed hospital in rural western Kenya serving around 200000 people. Surgical need is served by myself as the sole orthopedic surgeon and 1 part time general surgeon. Our patient population comprises of small scale farmers and self employed youths mostly in motorcycle transport business. Poverty level is high and most patients cannot afford care. Our mission is right at the centre trying to provide quality care as we were trained and also try to be affordable. This is proving a challenge since the hospital is running on minimal budget. We lack basic orthopedic and trauma surgical equipment and most orthopedic equipment are very expensive to get.
We hope you can help us give our patient the best affordable care they deserve and leave hospital knowing God's hand is at work. Our wishlist and what we are asking to raise for and not exclusive to a new sign set, dhs set, small and large fragment set, periarticular set, arthroscopy equipment, tourniquet machine, rehab equipment including crutches, walkers.
Your help will be appreciated
