Orphanage volunteer in Ghana

Hi! I'm Eleonora ! I'm italian, 18 years old and this summer I will be volunteering in an orphanage in Ghana for 4 weeks with Plan My Gap Year. I believe in helping the world and who needs it the most with simple things. Even if I'm quite young, I can say I'm a step away from achieving one of my biggest dream. I love children and spending time with them, I want to try to give them a little bit of the love they never had. I know it would be impossible to fulfil the emptiness that they have inside, but I will try my best to spread all the positivity and brightness that is part of my personality!

Here's more about the project: "PMGY’s Orphanage volunteers programme in Ghana brightens up the lives of young children making a vital and important contribution to their daily lives. Like so many developing nations, Ghana has a large number of children who find themselves in the care of an orphanage. Many of the children arrive at a very young age, as their mothers die in childbirth and have no one to look after them. However, the home also accepts abandoned children, street children and children of unstable parents. The center provides daily care and interaction with the children and spending time in the playground area to the more mundane but essential tasks such as cleaning, feeding and washing. It gives also the opportunity to assist in morning classroom-based activities for pre-school aged children."

I'm super excited to spend my summer with these kids and I'm ready to be an older sister for them. However I need to raise full support to cover my expenses while I’m there. Going on this adventure, I need to raise 1430€ to cover a portion of my flight and my room and board while I am there. Ciao! Sono Eleonora e ho 18 anni. Quest'estate intraprenderò un'attività di volontariato in un orfanotrofio in Ghana per 4 settimane con Plan My Gap Year. Credo nel fatto che si possa aiutare il mondo con piccole azioni e anche se sono piuttosto giovane posso dire di essere ad un passo dal realizzare uno dei miei più grandi sogni. Amo i bambini e passare il tempo con loro e vorrei provare a dargli un po' dell'amore che non hanno mai avuto. So che è impossibile riuscire a riempire il vuoto che hanno dentro ma farò del mio meglio per condividere con loro tutta la positività e solarità che fa parte delle mia persona!

Qui troverete qualcosa in più riguardo al progetto: "Il progetto di volontariato in orfanotrofio di PMGY in Ghana da una carica in più le vite dei più piccoli dando loro un'importante contributo vitale tutti i giorni. Come molti altri paesi in via di sviluppo, il Ghana ha un gran numero di bambini che si ritrovano ad essere accuditi in orfanotrofi. Molti di questi arrivano quando ancora sono molto piccoli, dato che nella maggior parte dei casi le madri muoiono durante il parto e i bambini rimangono senza nessuno che li possa salvaguardare. In ogni caso, queste case accettano anche bambini abbandonati, di strada o appartenenti a famiglie instabili. Questo centro provvede ad una cura giornaliera, ad interazioni con i bambini ed a passare del tempo nell'area giochi. Altri ruoli più mondani ma essenziali che sono ricoperti consistono nel pulire la struttura, preparare e dare da mangiare ai più piccoli cosi come lavargli i vestiti. Quest'associazione da anche la possibilità ai bambini di essere assistiti durante le lezioni a scuola o durante le attività pre scuola.

Sono veramente felice di passare la mia estate con questi bambini e non vedo l'ora di essere per loro come una sorella più grande. In ogni caso avrei bisogno di un supporto economico per ricoprire le spese quando sarò lì. Per questa esperienza mi servirebbero 1430€ proprio per coprire parte del mio volo, pernottamento e pensione. Sarò felice di rispondere a qualsiasi domanda e di condividere con voi qualcosa in più di questa mia nuova avventura!
