I am collecting money for an orphanage in the forest, on mountain of Nepal, about 10 km from Kathmandu center. I am working there as a volunteer and currently residing in Finland. Children, both girls and boys from 5-15 years old, in this orphanage are totally around 50, they are from different parts of Nepal. Their family left them or didn't have money to raise them. They are relatively healthy, because they don't eat junkfood such as hamburgers or candies. One hospital donates them rice and lentils. But they only rarely have for example milk to drink and food is quite simple vedgetables, rice and lentils. Clothes are old and worn out, usually local people donate them their old clothes and they rarely get new clothes for themselves. The orphanage building itself is quite cold and dirty place, an old, simple stonehouse that we in Western countries used to have for animals. One doctor has donated to build a simple fire place kitchen of sand and toilets. The children wash by hand their dishes and clothes outside the kitchen where there is a water container of icy cold water. In the afternoon water gets little warmer Older children take care of younger children's clothes. They clean together, brushing the floor, though there is not much to clean. In the rooms there are only bunk beds and wardrobes, no tables or other furnitures. Children go to school but after schooling possibilities are limited because of lack of money. In the orphanage they have goats and 2 horses but no cow. One cow costs about 500€. The owner has one scooter to use for getting food from Kathmandu city down up to the hill. They don't have a car. I would like to give these children without parents feeling that somebody cares for them.
