Maple groves, apple orchards and organic pasture lands. This land was a prominent Ottawa Valley farm at the turn of the 19 century; today it's neglected, overgrown and calling out loudly for help.
Our family bought this land and have started to turn dense overgrown fields of weed into lush green pastures. One of the 4 organic pastures is healing and a local farmer successfully harvested organic hay for cattle feed from the pasture.
Pastures need strong fences so animals can begin to graze and heal the land. Grazing animals are able to restore the land over time with a little help from an attentive farmer. Goats, pigs, cattle and chickens will root up unwanted weed and small brush that would take gallons of fuel and tons of chemical fertilizers. Organic farming is harmony between the farmer and nature, growing crops, raising livestock, and maintaining the nutrition in the soil.
Our farm has on successful pasture and we have plans for several others. Fresh maple syrup, organic apples and pastures for livestock. Time is slipping away as the winter fast approaches. Fences are needed around the maple groves and the pastures so the grazing livestock has a safe space, food and water.
Our next project is completing the fence around the North West pasture beside the main entrance gate. The existing fence is in decent shape. All the existing posts will have to be removed and re installed to make them stronger. Broken section will require replacement, the gate needs to be replaced, and there are some wetlands that will need a new fence to protect the water and sensitive wildlife that inhabit the wetlands.
Your contribution will be used to protect and preserve the wetlands. Once the wetlands are protected, fencing work on the healing pasture will begin.
Contribute to our farm, help organic farming thrive and get something in return for your contributions.
