I am James Doldolia, from the Philippines. Having survived the occurrence of what is considered to be the strongest typhoon yet in history, Yolanda (Typhoon Haiyan) on November 8, 2013, the devastation that it left the community around has left me astonished and made me realized two things. First, nature has its way of manifesting its power to people who abuse the environment. Second, with the increasing natural disasters brought by climate change, cities should make significant measures to mitigate climate change and increase their resilience to climate-related events.

These realizations from my experience in Typhoon Yolanda have driven me to pursue a career in sustainability and developed my passion for sustainable energy. Because of this, I was invited to join the Orange ASEAN Factory in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on April 1-19, 2019. Orange Factory is an intense 3-week sustainability consultancy program for talented young professionals, entrepreneurs and (master) students from the Netherlands and Southeast Asia, initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. Supported by experienced consultants, academics and field experts, 20-30 participants work in dedicated teams on business cases for real-life issues from our partners, designing innovative solutions for sustainability challenges in the region. Our partners range from multinational companies to local NGOs and government institutions. Yearly, several Factories are organised at different capital cities in the ASEAN region. The program offers a special opportunity for participants to improve their knowledge on sustainability, their consultancy skills, expand their network, and gain international collaboration experience with other Dutch and ASEAN young professionals.

The programme has only 307 euros available per applicant for financial aid. This financial aid is not enough to cover my expenses during the 3-week programme in Vietnam which will include transportation expenses from the Philippines to Vietnam and accommodations in Vietnam for 3 weeks.

In this regards, I'm looking for financial aid to hopefully fund my participation in the Orange ASEAN Factory in Vietnam. I would be grateful if anyone would consider supporting my attendance by contributing to expenses that will be incurred. Thank you in advance.
