Oral health intervention program for rural people

Our team, consisting of 39 medical students are in dire need of fund to run an intervention program. We had run data collection on 6 longhouses situated in Julau area, rural of Sarawak, Malaysia. Our research study is on the knowledge and practices of oral health of longhouses inhabitants.

Good oral health is an important part of being a healthy individual. There are many factors that can add up to this, for example, diabetic status, which is related to sugar intake.

The objective of our intervention program, that will be run on 9th November 2019 is to:
1. Deliver appropriate knowledge on oral health to the villagers
2. Demonstrates the proper way to mantain good oral health
3. Promote regular oral checkup

Some of the activities that we intent to do on that day are :

1. Health checkup.
2. Health dialogue.
3. Dental checkup.
4. Health exhibition booth.
5. Games
6. Oral health demonstration.

Therefore, the money that we will get are intended to be spent on our own needs and also for exhibition materials. These are some of them:

1. Toothpaste
2. Mahjong paper (large brown paper)
3. Stationery
4. Gifts for games
5. Our food
6. Fund for team shirt (not a priority).
