Rumah Peduli- Health and Well-being for Everyone

In the majority of cases, the government in Indonesia provides medical treatments for people living in or near the big cities such that patients living in the villages far away from central hospitals are not reached by the health care system.

Moreover, social health insurance for poor people only covers medical action and hospitalization. However, poor patients who only need an ambulant treatment face various problems while recovering from their disease. The biggest problem is about affording an accommodation while being treated in hospital two or three times a week since their home is too far away to for them to travel every day. This is why Rumah Peduli offers a home for patients and their families for time of recovery.

In the course of our volunteer work with the student organization AIESEC, we had the chance to meet the staff and patients of Rumah Peduli and we were impressed by their strength, happiness and motivation! With the help of this community, also poor people get the opportunity to receive an appropriate medical treatment, find a home and lovely volunteers to care for their needs both day and night.

Unfortunately, there are still not many people who know about Rumah Peduli and we want to change this!
