Recently I separated from the United States Air Force, with the intention of going to school at San Francisco State University. I joined the USAF in the beginning of 2008 mostly because of the Post-9/11 GI Bill, but also because I wanted to be able to offer my services to help protect our great country. After a number of years travelling throughout the world in support of our military, I wanted to take the opportunity to utilize the Post 9/11 GI Bill and pursue my education. The benefits of the GI Bill would not only pay for my tuition in full, but also provide me with an allowance to pay for my books each semester and give me a living allowance which, in San Francisco, would equal approxiamtely $2,800/month or more for the next 3 years. I was able to secure a place to live well within the limits of what my allowance would afford me. I began to attend San Francisco State University in the Fall semester of 2012, and had a full course load. I truly enjoyed going back to school and definitely did not take for granted the opportunity to receive an education at this institute of higher learning. After a couple of months of going to school, I was told that the reason I had not received the allowance payment was because my stuff was still being processed, but I was to expect a back payment check of over $7000. One day, recently, after midterms, I received an email that told me that the check I was to expect within the next week would not be arriving, because my GI Bill application was denied, due to an error in my military discharge paperwork. I was told I could appeal for my GI Bill to be approved, but it might take over 6 months. In the mean time, the semester I had been going to was now not being funded, and the past few months have gone past without me being able to secure any income, as I could have been working the whole time, had I known I wasn't going to receive the GI Bill allowance money. I have come to this site, humbly, asking for help in trying to pay the bills I have not been able to pay for the past few months I was waiting for my GI Bill allowance, as my phone is turned off, and I owe 3 months of rent and car payments. I've only been able to barely feed myself with the very little amount of money I had to get me by. I have been very active in finding a job, after finding out the bad news, but whatever money I would be able to earn would be able to pay my monthly expenses, but not what I already owe. I thank you for reading through this and for any help that may be able to come my way, I greatly appreciate. God Bless.
