SUPPORT MAVANGA HEALTH CENTER

My name is Fr. Method Msanga, the priest of Mavanga in Njombe region - Tanzania. I am in Mavanga community since April 2018. Mavanga is a rural area whereby the nearest town is 168 kms i.e. Njombe town. This community has about 9,000 people.

In Mavanga we have one Health Center which has been helping these people since 1993. But for these 26 years the patients who have been diagnosed to be operated have been referred to Lugarawa hospital which is 60kms from here. The common cases referred to this far hospital are the unusual delivery cases. Due to the distance and rough roads especially during rainy season we have lost babies and mothers. The parish would like to construct the operation theater for helping especially the pregnant women who do not manage to give birth in a natural way. This will help to rescue children and mothers at delivery point for 97%.

We would like to raise 33000 USD that will help us to construct the theater building i.e the foundation, wall, roof and finishing ( stones, cement, bricks, sand, iron sheets, iron bars, paints, tiles, nails, glasses, aluminium plumbing materials, electrical materials and timbers).

A part from our big project of the operation theater, there are many other expenses that the Health Centre incurs such as buying drugs, equipment, paying salaries and do some renovations.

Il mio nome e' Fr. Method Msanga. Da Aprile 2018 sono parroco di Mavanga, un villaggio situato nel sud della Tanzania, nella provincia di Njombe. Il villaggio conta circa 9000 abitanti e si trova in un'area rurale, a 168 km da Njombe.

Dal 1993 a Mavanga e` presente un Health Centre, che fornisce supporto sanitario alla popolazione locale. Da 26 anni questa strutttura puo' garantire assistenza per far fronte a piccole emergenze e patologie comuni in quest'area, malaria prima fra tutte. Purtroppo pero' tutti i pazienti che necessitano di trattamento chirurgico devono essere sempre trasportati all'ospedale piu' vicino dotato di una sala operatoria, situato a Lugarawa, distante 60 km da Mavanga. Le situazioni che maggiormente hanno bisogno di un trasferimento di urgenza sono i casi di parto con complicanze. La lunga distanza e le pessime condizioni delle strade sterrate, soprattutto durante la stagione delle piogge, ci hanno fatto assistere in questi anni a numerose morti di madri e bambini. Vorremmo costruire una sala operatoria nell'Health Centre di Mavanga, per permettere di accogliere e far partorire donne che hanno bisogno di ricevere un cesareo. Per farlo, abbiamo bisogno di raccogliere circa 30 000 USD, necessari per la costruzione della struttura che accogliera' la sala operatoria.

Oltre al grande progetto della sala operatoria, l'Health Centre di Mavanga deve far fronte a numerose spese per l'acquisto di medicinali e strumentazione e per garantire il salario ai suoi dipendenti.
