WHO AM I: My name is Emily, a recent graduate from Georgetown University about to embark on my next adventure.
THE NEXT ADVENTURE: I have been lucky enough to land a job teaching English in Japan through the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET Programme). I will be living in a tiny town (Pop. 2,900 humans, probably just as many sheep) in the northernmost island of Japan, Hokkaido.
WHAT I NEED: I am thrilled to have a fantastic job in Japan; however, as a recent graduate, I have very few funds available to me right off the bat. It is recommended by the JET Programme to bring 2,000 dollars with me upon arrival in order to pay upfront costs (security deposits for an apartment, rent before my first paycheck, renting a car, etc.). I am hoping to earn 1,000 this summer at my glamorous job (as a cashier at the Home Depot), but there is no way I can earn 2,000 in such a short amount of time. This is where y'all come in :D
THE DEADLINE: My departure date is August 3, 2013, so ideally I will reach my goal of $1,000 before take-off.
YOUR REWARD: Of course I would never ask for anything for free - I am more than happy to send you love and trinkets from Japan once I am settled. Reward details will follow.
Rewards
Chippubetsu-cho (my future home) is known for its sheep. I will be hand-making little sheep stuffed animals from wool and shipping them to you. An authentic Japanese stuffy :)
Japan is known for its plentiful and oftentimes bizarre products and souvenirs. I will travel about Japan and whenever I happen upon a particularly odd, entertaining, or awesome item, I will pick it up and send it to you. Each item will be unique for every donor who gives 50 and above.
If you donate $100 or more will be entered in a raffle for an especially prized and valuable Japanese pop-culture item. After the deadline, I will put all of the names in a hat, old school. Once I have a winner, I will contact them and see if they have any particular interests that can guide me in my quest for the perfect item. Trust me, it will be worth your while :D

Good luck with your awesome program dear Emily! :-) Hopefully, I will be able to come to Japan visit you!!! (even though Chippubetsu-cho is far from Tokyo) :-) Love from France! ;-) Jean-Sbastien. PS: I selected "No reward" not because I don't want a hand-made cuty Japanese sheep :-) (I saw pictures of those sheeps and they are really cute! :-D) but because I consider my donation as a gift from a friend to a great friend, which thus does not require a gift back. :-)
