Operation – Hirschsprung’s Disease

I would like to ask a help from you.

First of all, my name is Bianca Marie L. Prado, from Bacolod City, Philippines. I gave birth last Oct. 6, 2017 to a beautiful baby boy named Kley Hezekiah via NSVD. We are about to be discharged from the hospital the day after I was admitted, but I noticed, around 2PM that my son is not feeding anymore. By that time, I asked for a Nurse and minutes later our Pedia entered the room and noticed my son's tummy have become bigger compared to the size by the time he was born and he started vomiting green. Our Pedia automatically asked a Pedia Surgeon. The next day, Pedia Surgeon arrived and told us about his initial findings, which is Hirschsprung's Disease (is a condition that affects the large intestine (colon) and causes problems with passing stool. The condition is present at birth (congenital) as a result of missing nerve cells in the muscles of the baby's colon) We were educated of the possibilities, taught about Manual Colonic Irrigation daily or every other day - as needed.

And introduced to us the “pull-through” Procedure/Operation (Swenson procedure. The Swenson procedure was the original pull-through procedure used to treat Hirschsprung disease. The aganglionic segment is resected down to the sigmoid colon and rectum, and an oblique anastomosis is performed between the normal colon and the low rectum) to take place before my Son turns 1year old to eliminate further complications and danger – classic example is Enterocolitis - inflammation of both the small intestine and the colon.

Months passed and we noticed our Son's stool is becoming regular - like 2-3 times a day. We are very much happy and living a normal life. But came April 12, 2018, my son did not poop for 1 whole day, we first thought it's just because of the NEW MILK FORMULA (6-12mos) given but I became worried knowing He already has the CONDITION. 2 days passed still nothing. On the third day, we tried suppository and a little amount came out with my son crying since it is a hard stool to pass. 4th day still little amount. Until we tried papaya and prune juice for our baby. It helped a little, just like suppository, little amount of stool coming out, little by little. Earlier, we went to Pedia Surgeon and have known of the bad news. Doctor tried anal stimulation and find out that my baby's tummy is already very full and prescribed us a NSS to irrigate plus Mineral Oil so that the hard stool inside would slightly soften. Doctor also told us about the danger when this scenario repeats - it will cause general infection to our baby.

By this, we humbly ask for your help, financially, since we are to prepare at least PHP200,000. Ideally before he turns 1year old. My baby is turning 9months this July 6, 2018.
