“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine
How can we make the right decisions when we only understand one perspective? How do we make an impact without first putting ourselves in the shoes of those we wish to help?
This summer, I set sail for Ghana! Here, I will have the opportunity to immerse myself in new cultures and see life through a different lens. I will spend six weeks with Operation Groundswell (OG) working alongside local not-for-profits and travelling across Ghana.
One of our first service projects will take us to the mountain village of Wli Todzi. Here, we will work with a local NGO, Rise Up Ghana, which raises awareness and gains government support to help bring resources and supplies to remote villages.
Later, we will head to Sandema where we will spend two weeks working with the Horizons Children's Centre, which works to provide marginalized and under privileged children with access to shelter, food, education and most importantly love and support. Lastly, we will work with G-Roots, which aims to empower subsistence farmers by working with them to implement a dry-season irrigation project and a seed-based micro-loan initiative.
I'm so excited to start this adventure, but I need your help!
I have committed to fundraise $1,000 to go to our service projects. Any donation that you make, will help me reach my goal and further assist these organizations with their work.
If you have any questions or just want to say hi, my email is [email protected] or you can call me at (614) 546-9940.
