My beloved mum lost her short fight with cancer on 8th of March 2013. She was only 60.

As my sister and I had both moved out of the family house, this means my dad now lives alone. He is trying his best to get on with life, after losing his partner of 36 years.

We visit as much as we can, but his main companion is Brogan the dog. My family have always had spaniels, and Brogan is no exception, he is a 6 year old Cocker Spaniel.

Almost a year to the day of my mum's passing, we found out Brogan had a tumour. To pay for this plus treatment will be thousands, as the operation will be done from the university veterinary school in Edinburgh.

The most devastating thing is my dad has said he would find getting another dog too difficult. We need to keep Brogan around for many more years., the idea of my dad being companion-less is heartbreaking.

Thanks for your time.
