Operation Find Talent

This operation was first thought of early june 2012  by four likeminded individuals who came together to form a Community Based Organization known as "Jukwaa"Initiative International. Jukwaa in swahili meaning platform. It is based in the coastal region of Kenya Mombasa, and is aimed at discovering naturing and promoting talent (creative, literature,visual and performing) arts Probono to the people in this community.

We organise events every month that feature individual artists and their works. we try to arrange that they get contacts and leave with a stepping stone to their careers. In africa -Kenya not many people believe that talent can get you places so people opt for other odd jobs and seeing such immense talent go to waste is a shame and very heartbreaking being an artist myself, i can atest to that.

The number of artsist has grown bigger than we can handle and the costs are also flamming up. We hire everything to make these events a success.(Pa, guitars,drums, lighting,venues, keyboards,microphones, exhibition spaces name it).

We do not have sponsors.We started soley by chipping in from individual income to see the shows success. We have created mobilisation and awareness for artists to come out and unravel their talents to the people in mombasa and the shows have been recieved very well. Entrances to the shows are normally free hence no way of making income to support the Initiative.  we can no longer  manage to handle these  from our own pockets because we are equally young and living out of art hence need help from anyone out there who values and appreciates Talent,culture and Art.

we need to buy a whole set of instruments,sound and lighting equipment and in future build an outdoor auditorium that could service thousands of youths in Mombasa. contributions can be in form of the equipment as well. This monthly activities given the amount of time it takes to prepare keeps youths off evils in society especially our biggest current problem-drug abuse.

We have run a play four times at the little theater club Mombasa and are planning to take it on tour as well to create drug awareness and cleaning facilities.
