Elliot is a lovely, funny six year old boy who has spastic diplegic cerebral palsy and severe Haemophilia A. Great Ormond Street Hospital has assessed Elliot as a suitable candidate for Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR), a life-changing operation which will give him much more freedom of movement. We need your help to raise £66,300 to pay for the operation and associated physiotherapy. More information here on SDR and our campaign.

Here's why we're fundraising and how YOU can help:

Elliot currently walks very short distances with walking sticks and manages without his wheelchair at home.  As Elliot is growing his legs are becoming less able to support his bodyweight. As a result Elliot is becoming less mobile, less independent and more reliant on his wheelchair.

We're hoping that we'll have enough funds to go ahead with the operation sometime mid 2014. Currently Elliot is doing preparatory physiotherapy at a cost of £6,300. The operation will cost £30,000 and after 4 weeks in hospital Elliot will come home to a physiotherapy rehab programme lasting two years and costing another £30,000.

The NHS supports families by offering the operation but it cannot fund it, nor the physiotherapy afterwards.

Elliot's family and friends are embarking on the massive challenge to raise these funds. This is one of those cases where every pound we receive is crucial. Please get involved by donating or even by organsing your own fundraising event. Whether it's £1 or £100, every penny will make a huge difference to improving Elliot's mobility and life opportunities.
