Operation Brynndog

Update posted by Rae Cooper On Dec 06, 2014

Hi All!

Thank you so much for your generosity which has got Little Brynndog this far! Totally ouldnt have got here without all your help & support. I have now got the go ahead for an operation to remove the growths from Brynns nasal passages. I have been quoted around £1200 for the operation if all goes well. We still have £500 towards this from your donations but as people are still asking if they can donate, I have incresed the total from the original £800 which we thought we needed to £1500. The remainder will be covered by myself. Brynn could have his operation as soon as in 2 weeks time which I would love to se happen for him!

Thank you all for your continued supprt! x

Ive just had some better news from the vets and it seems I was right to have his biopsies sent off for analysis! Turns out that what Brynn has is actually very aggressive nasal polyps which have become very destructive to his nasal passages due to their size. The pathologist can not see any evidence of cancerous, malignant cells present. However, he has forwarded them on for a second opinion due the severity of the size. So, the vet is getting me together an estimate for surgery where as much of the tissue as possible will be removed. This will not cure the problem as almost all of the time there will be regrowth. Whether that's months or years will just depend. But I will do anything it takes to improve my little guys life so this news has been a total godsend today. Im not dancing a jig just yet until I hear back from the second opinion which should be by Friday. The surgery is very invasive and will involve opening his muzzle from his nose up to the eyes which will require a few nights in hospital and a potential blood donor. Sound horrendous but Im almost sure I will decide to go ahead. I could just leave it and do nothing but it will just keep growing and become debilitating over time. I cant believe it! What a bloody rollercoaster this is! Don't know whether to laugh or cry!Poor lad, sneezing up clots.

Hi all. It's not good news for little Bryndog I'm afraid. I'm devastated to have to write this post but without all your donations we never would have even got this far and I can't thank you all enough from the very bottom of my heart. Brynns tumour is malignant and has already spread into the bone around his nasal passages, both of which are completely shut of, and through the palate of is mouth. It's very close to pushing through the skull which surrounds his brain so sadly now any treatment we can give him will be just to keep his pain at bay. I'm so sorry I couldn't have come home with a more positive result, It's heartbreaking. His biopsy has been sent away regardless as there is a very small fraction of a chance that chemo may extend his life but It's a tiny percent chance. Not really sure what to do with myself just now. I didn't ask what time he may have left. We'll just take each day as it comes and do what we can to keep him happy. Thank you all so much for all words of support today. I'm sure little Brynndog will be online tomorrow when he's feeling a bit better to give you an update x

BRYNN UPDATE!!!! After the shocking news yesterday about having to have a £156 consultation and a £1200 CT scan before he can have any biopsies done, we have had some better news today!! Thanks to Margaret Luscombe and Gemma Newsome for recommending Abbey House Vets in Leeds, Brynn has now been booked in to spend the day there on Monday 24/11/14 so they can fully investigate his tumour. I've been quoted about £850 for his initial half hour consultation AND a CT scan, a massive difference to the £1356 quoted for the same by his previous specialist! I'm sure Brynn will be online to update you all on Monday night once Nanny Roxy has stopped cleaning him! Thank you all once again for your continued support. It means so much x

"Evening all! Brynndog here!

Well what a day its been today! One very kind and selfless human being has donated £485 to my fund which took me to my target of £800!! Amazing!! Thank you everyone who has donated towards my treatment!

Unfortunatley the joy was short lived because my Mum rang the vets today to book my biopsy which is what we were hoping to raise the £800 to pay for. The vet lady said that because she hasnt seen me since February, I need a CT scan first, to see how big my tumour has got and to find out if it has spread to anwhere else in my body. This CT scan is going to cost £1200 and I have to have this first before any biopsies can be done to determine my treatment. Thankfully, with the £800 that you very kind folk have donated, and the £600 that Mum had saved towards further treatment, I can pay for my CT scan! Thank you!!

Mum looked pretty gutted at this news as it now means even more funds are needed to help me than she thought. The biopsy has been quoted at £820 so that remains about the same as we were told back in February. But....I am still going to need some help for my biopsy to be done.

Although my original target has been reached you can still donate as I know lots of you who wanted to help were just waiting til you had some spare money to help me. Its been a real shock to find out that I have to have this first and I know my Mum is working hard to see if I can have it done anywhere else that might be a bit cheaper since we are working on a very tight budget!

I will know more on Wednesday 26th November as I get to go and speak to the special vet who will talk me and Mum through what will happen next. Mum says the half hour consultation will be £156 and then we will get a date for the next stage. I'm feeling really nervous now about what might happen but I know I have lots of loving peoples asking after me and hoping that I get better soon so that makes me feel much better!

Please keep sharing my plea and passing on my updates! Thank you wonderfull people! Lots of love from Little Brynndog x"
