I’m Jupeter Asuero of Baguio City, a husband and a father who loves to cook! I was diagnosed with acute respiratory failure secondary to congestive heart failure with concominant pneumonia, acute coronary syndrome non-st elevation myocardial infarction, acute aortic dissection. On Monday 22nd March I experienced hot flushes and a ripping pain in my chest. My wife and I took an urgent trip to the ER where I underwent an MRI and CT scan to diagnose my heart problems. I was then put in an induced coma in the ICU to reduce the pressure on my heart.

The most dangerous part of my diagnosis was the aortic dissection, which is where blood from my heart tries to flow into my chest, instead of into my body. I also acquired complicated urinary infection, pneumonia and hypokalcemia during my hospital stay.

I gave my family and friends another shock of worry three days later when I was intubated for pneumonia and possible COVID-19 infection. They tested me for COVID 4 times! Fortunately, I ended up not having COVID-19, but the time in the special COVID rooms was expensive.

After 17 days in the hospital, I am now discharged and recovering from my illnesses. I am still weak and is under a lot of medication but better than when I was in the hospital.

I humbly ask for your help in paying for my hospitalization costs and medication. At a time where I should be focusing on recovering. I am worried about money and my family. I want to be well again and return to caring for my family.

We are aiming for 700,000 pesos to cover hospitalization bills and ongoing medication, but any funds in excess to my actual medical bills will be donated to the Heart Foundation of the Philippines charity.

After 17 days in the hospital, I am now discharged and recovering from my illnesses. I am still weak and taking a lot of medication but I am better than when I was in the hospital. I have had to hire some equipment to monitor my blood pressure at home.. . . . .
