OPEN HEART SURGERY for baby Mia

Hello,

I am fundraising for my godchild Mia that needs an open heart surgery for being diagnosed upon birth with a complicated heart disease.

Amelia Kae “Mia” M. de los Santos, has just turned 1 last September 9, 2021, was diagnosed upon birth with a Congenital Heart Disease - Pentalogy of Fallot (POF), a variant of the more common Tetralogy of Fallot or TOF.

The diagram below shows the areas of Mia's heart that have complications, plus the location of the hole in her heart (black shaded part, left image). Imagine 5 defects in baby Mia's tiny heart!

At para mas maintindihan po, may maraming complications sa heart ni Mia;

• ang overriding aorta na umeksana kasi dapat hindi yan jan nakapatong pero dahil nag override siya, siya ang mas nakakareceive ng mas maraming dugo na nagresult sa paglower ng oxygen sa blood;
• ang baradong pulmonary artery;
• may valve na mas malaki kesa normal heart;
• at ang butas sa wall in between sa dalawang lower chambers ng kanyang heart (may shaded part sa image below).

Kids with this condition suffers Cyanosis (turns blue) since they do not have enough oxygen in the body. The more the kid is active, the more the oxygen is not enough, thus, cyanosis is more frequent as she grow. Currently, she is taking Propanolol as her maintenance to lessen the cyanosis, which is effective as of now.

This can only be treated through an open heart surgery.

Mia is an active kid and moves a lot.

It was advised by the doctor to have her surgery as early as 1 year old so we'll not have to wait for her case to worsen. We must not wait when she struggle breathing after a few minutes of just walking or playing; or notice her fingers swollen and a little bit bluish; or worse, see her in pain. We are asking for your generous support to make the surgery happen the soonest possible. Just imagine how you and I could help in giving her the chance to enjoy this life and love that we share.
