Adoption professionals have known for years there are numerous reasons why to encourage their clients to enter into open adoptions. But there hasn’t been a resource to guide people, both adopting parents and placing parents, in how to create and sustain healthy child-centered relationships through the child-raising years of open-adoption relationships.
The Tour: Lori Holden, author of the just-released book, TheOpen-Hearted Way to Open Adoption: Helping Your Child Grow Up Whole, is planning a tour of northern California, Oregon and Washington, and is available to speak and sign books for clients of adoption organizations and bookstores along the path. An early September tour is anticipated; dates will be determined soon and influenced by sponsoring organizations.
Funds are need to cover travel expenses from Denver => SFO => PDX => SEA => Denver, as well as some ground transportation and lodging. Supporters in most of these cities are donating their sofas for the author to crash on, and we have lovingly dubbed this the Great Adoption Sofa Tour of 2013.
Any organization or individual is invited to donate any amount to this cause. (But we're all set with sofas, thanks.)
