I, Nkululeko Mfundo Msomi, am a second-year Chemical Engineering Student from the Mangosuthu University of Technology, who is passionate about sustainable development, innovative engineering, and entrepreneurship. I have chosen this field of study as I have a very strong desire to have sustainable impact on the people of my country, especially those who come from disadvantaged communities.
I also serve as an executive member of the Enactus Mangosuthu University of Technology team. Enactus is an international non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring students to improve the world through entrepreneurial action. At Enactus we strive to achieve one goal and that is to awaken the “entrepreneurial action in us”; to use it in creating innovative and sustainable projects that have an impact in our communities in a social, economic and environmental manner.
Recently I received the honour of being chosen to represent the Republic of South Africa at the One Young World Summit that will be taking place in Bogota, Columbia, from the 4th to the 7th October 2017. The One Young World Summit is one of the most prominent global forums for young leaders. This is an annual forum where 1300 young delegates debate and formulate solutions for the world’s most pressing matters. No youth dominated event outside the Olympic Games brings together more countries then the One Young World Summit.
