One Young World 2015 Summit

I'm raising funds to attend the One Young World Summit 2015 , Bangkok Thailand .

I believe that young people are the true custodians of sustainable change and development. They possess within them untapped potential to be great and ultimately make their countries and world at large great. One Young world recognises this and that this is the fundamental pillar to the summit. The organisation’s ability to recognise that the 21st Century challenges require a different mind-set and that the young talent within the globalisation era present an opportunity to fashion an extraordinary world, should be applauded.

Hence I believe that it is the refining of young talent that will have the greatest impact in ensuring a better world .I also believe that the 21st century individual is global citizen who has an acute understanding of their social positioning and how the global political economy affects this position. The 21st century young professional should also has an acute awareness of their role to influence and shape their immediate communities and subsequently world. Thus i believe that in the era of globalisation it is our uniqueness and social context that lay foundation for innovative responses to 21st century challenges.

I believe that the opportunity to attend the summit will cultivate and refine my current belief and that the cross pollination of ideas from other young leaders across the world will add perspective to my view of what an active citizen, global shaper and subsequently leader looks like.

I’m incredibly passionate about the African continent. I am particularly interested in finding African solutions for African problems. I believe deeply in thinking globally and in acting locally, thus my dream is to ensure that Africa becomes an influential stakeholder in the Global political economy in all spheres namely ; in Education, Woman empowerment and in ensuring Sustainable environmental change. As a result I primarily engage in work that addresses these three pillars (Education, Woman empowerment and ensuring a sustainable environmental change) within the African context.Having been afforded the opportunity to work in the Corporate and Social Responsibility space. I have been part of a dynamic team that has facilitated access to tertiary education for many of South Africa’s top achievers - ensuring that potential meets opportunity. This has shaped my outlook on the importance of quality education and access to it.

I dream to one day affect real change in this space by engaging other young professionals in this sphere to find innovative responses to South Africa’scurrent education crisis.

The cost to attend the summit is £ 2750.00 that is to be pid directly to the organisers. This coveres the following :

• Hotel accommodation (18 -21 Nov 2015)

• On-the-ground transport
• Access to the Summit
• All hand-outs and support materials
• Access to the One Young World Community

i therefore need to raise funds for 1 nights accomadation before the actual conference day as well as for foreign exchange and return flights. i would really appeciate any assitance and i will also be adding my personal savings towards the trip for Visa applications and all other expenses.
