To our brothers and sisters in AYLA.
We all know Scud Dy as our brother who is uplifting the lives of the Nanays at the foot of Mayon Volcano through his social enterprise Mr. Kengkoy PH (Gugu). He is also working for BPI Globe BanKO, a mobile phone based bank with the vision of financial inclusion and financial literacy to the 80% of Filipinos who still do not have access to formal financial services.
On April 16, 2015, at 24 y/o, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He is currently confined at Aquinas Hospital in Legaspi City, but the doctors forbid any visitors at this point because of his weak immune system.
In order to survive this, he would have to be treated for seven cycles/months. The treatment includes chemotherapy, blood transfusion, and bone marrow transplant among others (medicines, etc). He and his family would need the following:
1. Prayers for the success of his treatment and for financial health to be able to afford the treatment
2. 98 bags of platelets, 14 bags of RBC and an uncertain number of bags of WBC, 500cc each bag (all blood types are allowed to donate because blood swapping can be done at the blood bank – his blood type is A+)
a. We need these blood bags in tranches because the blood bank can only store it for 35 days (more details to follow in the next few days)
3. Money to cover the cost of testing and handling the blood donated (bank details upon request)
4. Logistical assistance (networks) – to transport the blood to Bicol Blood Bank in Legaspi, Albay
We are also hoping that as an organization, we could organize a blood-letting event. If any one of you reading this would know how to go about organizing such event, kindly email me at [email protected] because we would also like to organize one somewhere close to home, to save on transport costs.
For more information, you could also reach Scud’s mother, Ms. Ruby Villaranda Dy at 09175772772 and 09255772772.
We would appreciate any help we could get.
