One ref – Two cups

I'M REFFING THE WOMEN'S ROLLER DERBY WORLD CUP IN DALLAS!! :D

After just over 2 years of reffing, 2014 will see me ref both the men's and the women's roller derby world cups! I would never have thought this would be a statement I would ever be able to make. In the 2-and-a-bit years of reffing, I've covered nearly 90 bouts plus 30-odd scrims and challenge tournaments. This has taken me over 21,000 miles and to 6 countries with my skates. 

Right at the start of this journey I watched the 2011 Blood & Thunder Women's World Cup. I hadn't even put on stripes in public at that time yet I set myself the goal of reffing at the next one. Fast forward to 2014 and I somehow wound up on the ref crew for the Men's Roller Derby World Cup in Birmingham. This was a massive achievement for me and a true bucket-list moment for me. When I received the email confirming my spot on the Women's world cup ref crew I was stunned. Two world cups in one year? And to be the only Welsh roller derby referee to be on the crew for both cups?

But, dear derbies, I cannot get there without your help, I'm afraid! I hate the idea of putting my hand out like this to pay for something I've dreamt about for 26months. A few people have asked for this fundraising page, however, so here it is :D
