One mile running race in Los Gatos, CA on July 8, 2012, to raise money for City Team Ministries, an agency that helps the homeless. Third annual. I have been running my whole life and it is one of my true passions - I love it! This race allows me to give back to others my joy of running, and also to raise money for a cause that is close to my heart, that is, helping the homeless.
It has always been difficult knowing how to help those I see on the streets who don't have a home - no one should have to live like that. City Team offers a way out, a way to get off the streets and live a new life. I have volunteered for City Team in the past, so I got to see up close and in person that they really work miracles there.
This race not only raises money for City Team, but also helps raise awareness of the problem of homelessness in our society. It's a real way of making a difference. I am excited, because I had this vision a long time ago of putting on this race, and spent several years planning it out, and it finally became a reality two years ago in 2010.
The course is on a beautiful, tree-lined street alongside a large lake, nestled in the cozy town of Los Gatos, CA near the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Lots of good energy, good people, and a good cause to boot. Any donations you can offer would be truly a blessing.
Oh yeah, and about the name of the race - my last name is Bang, and a friend of mine suggested it, so it kind of stuck. The Third Annual One Mile Bang - good for the heart, good for the soul! Peace and God bless and thank you very much for your generosity!
