    • My name is Ricky de Vera, father of 3 children, and husband to my dear wife, Dolly de Vera.

Dolly underwent a Mitral Valve, Aortic Valve and Tricuspid Valve replacement last October 23, 2019, and has miraculously surpassed a 3-month healing journey at the hospital, from ICU to regular room. It was a roller coaster of emotions for our entire family, as there came a point when my wife encountered several complications after her surgery, which resulted to pneumonia and weakened lungs. Her frail body has been fighting from the very beginning, with the hopes of being strong for the family and to be with everyone again just like how it used to before.

Given the length of her hospital admission and numerous procedures and medications provided to her aide, her medical bills have gone way beyond what we have prepared for, and still continues to increase as she is still on the road to recovery. With the help of family, relatives and friends, we were discharged last January 22, 2020 and was allowed to continue her healing journey at home.

Unfortunately, after being discharged for just 2 days, my wife was suddenly in pain and was admitted back to the hospital last January 24. This time, it was not her heart, nor her lungs. Her CT Scan results show that Dolly had a massive and progressive tumor in her lower pelvis, about 13cm in size and is aggressively growing by the day. The prognosis was malignant. Everybody in the family, even her doctors were in utmost shock as this did not came about during the last 3 months of being under intensive hospital care.

The tumor has expanded down to her labia, and at this point, the doctors are sure it is cancer. The mass was found inside her left ovary. Due to this huge mass, her kidneys and other organs are being pushed down. As a result, she is not able to pass any fluids out of her body. Pain is being managed by morphine, and dialysis was already performed to excrete the toxins out of her body.

We are still in shock with all that is happening, but we feel that if we help each other out and reach out again to your kind and generous hearts, we may be able to make one last hope, a miracle for my wife, Dolly.

We were given an option to remove the tumor, although the risk is very high. It has also come to a very difficult point, financially for the family, but we will continue to pray and hope for everyone's generosity and making this miracle happen.

Dolly continues to fight and still wants to win this battle. With everyone's help, we hope to be able to gather funds for her third operation.

Dolly, just about a day after discharge at home
