Campaign Story
I am not the kind of person who would post sensitive personal matters of my life nor that of my family, but I am making a special exception on this one and I hope anybody who will read this will understand.
My mother, Maripaz, who at a young age of 55, had a massive stroke just a few days ago. She is now in critical condition, fighting for dear life at the NeuroCritical ICU of St. Lukes. All the tests done on her showed that she had multiple strokes which resulted to intra cerebral hemorrhage. She is also diabetic and her creatinine is skyrocketing.
Many of you do not know that I am now my family’s sole breadwinner. My parents have long been retired. With God’s blessings I managed to provide for the people that matter to me and was able to save a little for myself along the way.
On the first day of my mother’s confinement (May 25, 2020), her hospital bill raked up a jaw dropping 291,000 pesos. I have to be honest, before this all happened, I never imagined I would spend this much on hospital bills. Now my life savings are being badly depleted and my sources of income will never be enough to cover the medical bills that are ballooning every hour that passes.
She is still confined at St. Luke's QC not by choice but because of circumstances we did not expect. Her doctor is at the Philippine Heart Center but at the time she complained about possibly suffering from a stroke which she did in her usual jolly manner, she also complained about trouble with her vision. So she was instructed by her Cardiologist to see an ophthalmologist at St. Luke's. Her condition worsened when we got to St. Luke's and there, we discovered her unstable state. The hospital, knowing the risk of her being transferred to another facility, did not allow her to leave. Now, we're stuck here with the bills going astronomical.
Like most of you perhaps, my mom never quit on me. She gave me the best life she could afford. She moulded me to the strong, independent person that I am. There were a lot of bumps, hurdles and pitfalls but she never gave up on me. She loved me, cared for me and protected me all her life.
This is why I am here talking to you. To anyone who cares to listen. I am not quitting on my mom. I will do anything and everything to bring her to a full recovery. Even if it means losing everything I worked so hard for all these years. My mom is worth more than anything in this world to me. She is my life.
This is one of those things I will do for her. I am reaching out to everyone who cares to read this. Friends, relatives and strangers. I am humbly seeking for your help. I cannot, in all humility, do this alone. I know these are hard times so I am not asking for much. Any amount you can afford to help me cover her hospital bill will be appreciated. I have never done this in my entire life. It hurts my pride if I am to be totally transparent to you who’s reading this but this is what I have to do for my mom and no degree of pride shall stop me from trying to make this happen.
Yesterday, May 28, 2020, my mom was revived from a cardiac arrest. She is now intubated and her kidneys are starting to fail. To make matters worse, I could not be at her side now because of the Covid-19 restrictions.
With knees bent, please send some help. Every peso counts for something.
