Olivia has gained her Angel Wings

Update posted by Alexia Vieira On Mar 11, 2017

This update is being done by Olivia’s Aunty Z on behalf of Olivia’s Angels as the family are broken and in pieces. Our precious Olivia is not well and has taken a turn for the worst. Tyrone and Lexi would like to let you all know they are using all your prayers and words on encouragement to help Olivia through her battle as she fights to stay with Mommy and Daddy. And as long as Olivia chooses to fight we stand right beside supporting her and loving her and so proud of her. If she fights back we fight back.
We do not lose hope we do not give up. We believe in God and angels, we believe in miracles, we have hope, we have love and we believe in mankind. We want to thank you all for being there for Olivia, Tyrone and Lexi. To the people we know and the strangers we don’t know. Your support and prayers are heard. We thank you and are eternally grateful.
We understand that stories like Olivia’s is not what people always want to read and share amongst family, friends and colleagues (I myself am guilty of that, I would rather avoid reaching out than sharing such sad news, but it doesn’t go away it doesn’t get better it remains! The only difference is we stand in the way of making a difference). Know that the decision we made to reach out and ask for help with money is due to circumstance and necessity. It is not a choice it is a necessity. We would have preferred to keep her protected and away from social media, but we have to reiterate we do so out of necessity and circumstance. It saddens me to know that there are fraudulent posts out on funding pages taking away from those who really need it, all due to greed. Putting in fear and hesitation in people’s minds whether to help those in need or not. I also understand that as you page through all the help requests from people around the world you cannot help everybody. You have to make a choice, we understand this. Each plea is as desperate as the next one. Each plea is as DESERVING as the next one. But today as a family we are on our knees, holding hands, praying and begging….today, please today, hear our prayers, feel our pain, help us lighten the burden this family are going through. Choose to help Olivia, Lexi and Tyrone today.
Your donation however small DOES make a difference. We need to remember that just because this family are going through the worst days of their lives, life around us does not stop.
The landlord wants his rent. The council wants their money for water and electricity. The car needs petrol and insurance, the phone company wants their money. You need to eat, you need to buy nappies etc. You need household products to keep the environment around Olivia germ free. The list never ending. This all requires money. Olivia’s tumour and prognosis was not planned or prepared for, no person can ever prepare and plan or want any of this. So your donation big or small MAKES A DIFFERENCE. You sharing Olivia’s post MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
I strongly believe and know the world is filled with good, helpful and supportive people that do make a difference to those around them, but they cannot help by donating and sharing if they don’t know Olivia’s story. So even if today you cannot donate, please share for the person you share it with could help make the difference and in turn YOU have made a difference. You have helped.
And lastly to my ‘Munchkin Olie Bear’ – you have taught me and continue to teach me something new every day (you do know this should have been the other way round your Aunty Z should be teaching you). You have shown me the true meaning of strength, you have shown me what fearless looks like. You are a little badass (I always knew you would be even when you were in Mommies tummy). You are wise beyond your years, and your love is of the purest kind. You make me want to be a better person.
I love you my munchkin and my promise to you is I will do whatever I have to get the help I can for Mommy and Daddy. They are not alone.
You my angel are not alone.
Thank you all for the time you have taken to read, share and donate.

A Christmas Wish.

In March 2016 our family was devastated and forever changed when our little Olivia was diagnosed with a very rare, inoperable brain tumor at the top of her brain stem.

As a family a very difficult decision had to be made about her care as the local hospitals where not equipped to provide the care she needed to try and fight the monster growing inside her head.

As a family we were torn apart as Mommy and Olivia needed to move to Cape Town to get the best medical care and Daddy had to remain to work to provide for his family. When cancer strikes there is no pause button, bills are still expected to be paid. A roof has to be put over your head, food in your mouth, clothes on your back. No one can truly understand the struggles endured. Olivia fighting the monster, missing her dad and seeing the hurt and struggle in mommies eyes. And dad unable to hold his daughter when she is crying and in pain, unable to reassure her that all will be ok except saying the words over a face time call. Unable to hold his wife when she needed to step away from the daily horror that was now their lives. The distance had become the tumors sidekick. It’s only mission sadness and pain.

Olivia has bravely struggled through 9 months of constant painful chemotherapy, drips, brain scans, medications, feeding tubes, extended hospital stays and countless other nasties fighting this life limiting disease.

On 29 November 2016 we got the results back from Olivia’s MRI and have met with her doctors. The tumor has progressed and there are no further treatment options (alternative or otherwise) that would give Olivia the good outcome she deserves.

The tumor has won this round but we will not let it take away everything. We will fill every moment with love, smiles, laughter and a family together not apart. We will create her days with new experiences (as all she knows is the journey to and from the hospital). She will finally know what it is to be a child.

As a broken man/woman. A broken father/ mother, we need to understand our limitations and what we can and cannot do.We need help, YOUR HELP.

Help us fulfill a Christmas wish for our little Olivia.

We know there are hundreds and thousands of people just like us that need help but today we beg you as a family. Choose Olivia……choose our angel to make a Christmas wish come true. Help us show her there is more to life than just fighting monsters. Help us show her there is a beautiful world out there with amazing people. Help us show her she is not alone, never has been never will be.

Today please help us make that difference. Choose Olivia (a Christmas wish)

You can use the link on this page to donate. It processes any amount from $1 and will be welcomed and appreciated. You can also deposit any amount towards a Christmas wish to:

Olivia is home now. She had Chemo on Wednesday. Her doctors were very happy with her progress.
Olivia had chemo flu most of today so she stayed in bed. 🙂 This afternoon she felt better and enjoyed playing with Daddy very much. We are very sad that he is leaving tomorrow morning for Johannesburg :( but he has to work :We wish he could stay! We want to thank everyone for their kind support

Olivia was admitted to hospital for an infection last week, as she was recovering from that she developed new infection. This one is a very nasty type of stomach bug.

Poor baby had a rough night last night but she is doing okay this morning.
