My name is Olivia Bryan. I am 18 years old and a recent high school graduate working at McDonalds to raise money for my education. But even if I save every paycheck, it won’t be anything close to what I need for this school year. Every penny counts, even if that’s all you can donate!
Art has been my entire life. Every form of art excites me, from theater to watercolors. In high school, I went from wanting to be a fashion designer, costume designer, lighting designer, stage manager (which wasn't creative in the slightest, but I really enjoyed working with a team), and finally back to my elementary school passion, a character designer.
My dream is to work at Walt Disney Animation Studios. When I was in kindergarten, my dad worked as a systems administrator on the Disney studio lot. He would pull me out of school early some days so we could go to Disneyland. Disneyland soon became my favorite place in the world, and still is. I think Walt Disney was a genius, and I aspire to be as great as he was and still is to this day. I'm sure every young cartoon artist wishes they had his brain.
Unfortunately, all the days going to Disneyland when I was younger really took away from my education. I was behind in my classes and struggled to catch up. In my senior year of high school, I moved to Pasadena to live with my mom. My grades improved almost instantly. I ended the year with all A’s and B’s that semester. I graduated high school, something I never thought I would do. I want to go to college to make up for those lost years, to become the artist Iknow I can be with time and practice, and go on to do something I love for the rest of my life.
I first heard about Otis at my local college fair. Otis is an art school located in downtown Los Angeles.I decidedto pursue becoming a student in their game and entertainment design program.
I was accepted to Otis February 15th! It would be incredible to attend this school, to be the first in my family to attend college. Again, every penny counts, and I will appreciate every one!
