Dear Sir/Madame,

People hear my name, but do you who I am or where I come from? I would love to start this story in an extraordinary way, but it is just my story that I will share with you today.

Serge Thomas, my dad, according to what I heard was a hard working and intelligent man, that met my mom, Lilette Albert, who was studying in Mauritius. Mom was a beautiful lady that came from this marvelous little island that’s a conglomerate of the Republic of Mauritius,Rodrigues.

Serge and Lilette had a very beautiful wedding. Within the first year of Marriage, Mom fell pregnant, and little Oliver Michael Thomas was on it’s way. What a joy it brought to the family. Having ancestors from Mozambique, India, France I was going to be a real mixture. A real Mauritian. I was born on the 28th of May 1993, from two parents that was so much in love.

Some months after my birth, dad had to do surgery from a throat cancer, I was only 9 months old, I fortunately in a way do not remember much of this period which must have been sad to my family. It must have been devastating for my mom that after nearly 2 years of marriage, my dad passed away. Dad was a time keeper on the sugar factory of F.U.E.L. After his death mom with the pension’s money that my mom received, we bought an apartment in Beau Bassin.

Every Christmas was my day. Mom made everything to make me happy. I had various souvenirs from this period. From Helicopters to racing car replicas, I broke everything down within days. We lived happily, until mom started to feel sick. She could not walk up the stairs of our apartment without stopping every 2 minutes. I had to wait for her and this was pretty annoying. I remember the day that mom felt sick and fainted. 5 years old boy ran to the neighbor asking for help. Mom was diagnosed with a tumor. I was still a kid and she strived through work to give me the best. She joined my dad some times after. She left a young 5 years old boy to the world’s mercy. I was adopted by my uncle and aunty. My new dad, a policeman, took really good care of me with all the necessary attentions and corrections needed. Reaching the age of 15 years old, full time in my adolescence rebellion, I started drinking, smoking and was a pro in skipping school, until an uncle discovered all of my plans.

I moved place went to stay in Curepipe at my uncle’s place, changed school. I went to a private one. Change in my life came really quickly. I use to be last at school, but with the necessary assistance that Morning Star School gave me, I was able to be best progress on the first year and first of my class the second. I was going to church every Sunday. Sold pancakes, washed cars during my school holiday until the age of 17 where I stopped school, and went to work for a Tour Operator. I so wanted to work as I considered that the best school was work. I did a part time study in Marketing at the institute Charles Telfair while working. From there on, I worked in different sectors such as insurance, Restaurant, and car rental companies. At the age of 19, I fell so deeply in love with a charming girl that I ended up asking her to marry me against the will of all of our families as she was 7 years older than me. She finally left me heart broken and empty. I fell into a tremendous depression, with even wanting to end my life. I left my job, my church, and my house to go live on my own. I lived a very lustful life for some months before I was proposed to work as a receptionist at the Dinarobin hotel, which I accepted with much difficult, that would be the start of my real basics to life with the help of my whole family I was out of trouble. I worked there for a year

After I got a better Job proposal at Sofap Ltd, I had the idea of creating my own business, which I did. Wayhome app was formed. I had full time working in this company, and I gathered all the money possible from my saving and people around me to create that project. After various articles in the business magazine, l’express and ICT.IO, I finally found a good opportunity to sell Wayhome. It was one of the best day in my life. I had that feeling that this Idea that i built up to become something real was being appreciated by someone else, and that this person was even willing to buy it.

While working for me, I had many time that I could not buy myself food. Even more funny was when I had to go out with my girlfriend, but my best friends had to lend me money. Thanks to all of them. What would be the worst day for you? My mom while still alive, took a loan with MHC.ltd of rs 200 000 to do some house renovations in the house she left just some times before she died. The insurance of the bank did not want to pay the balance on her death. I was left with that debt that grew each year. In 2016 my house was going to be seized. I was 21 years old with a debt of nearly half a million of rupees. I sold it just on time, and paid back my debts.

I kept strong like always. I always wanted to be a lawyer, but I never had enough funding for the studies. With the sale of my app and the money left after the repayment of the debt of my house, I was now able to start my studies. I am now a proud law student of the University of London. I am more that happy to be living part of my dream.

I did a diploma in marketing at Charles Telfair institue and a certificate in Political science from The Institute Cardinal Jean Margeot.

This year, I successfully passed my first law year with the University of London in subject such as Contract, public, Legal system and method, and Criminal.

I also already started my second year in the following subject: Tort, Trust, EU, And Family.

However, to be able to continue my studies, I would need your help. That is the reason, I am writing. I am in need of funding for my second and third year.

I don't want to sit back, as I am a fighter.

If you can help me, I won't be able to do much than to be grateful for, now, but I assure you that my heart will sincerely be thankful. (We never know, I might be defending your case one day)

My goal is to be the Prime minister of Mauritius. That may sounds absurd, but I really believe in it. We will see what Happens, as I am determined to do it.

I remain at your disposal if you have any further question, and please call me for a meeting or to have my details.

  • Go for it and never stop believing in you. I'm sure you can do great things. Just keep focus and stay determined no matter what others think. Great things were achieved by some people when actually no one believed in them. Keep on the good trend and when you get there, don't forget to help others. Take care, cheers!
