Old Souls is Moving to the Country!

Here at Old Souls Animal Rescue and Retirement Home, we rescue geriatric, special needs, and hospice animals. These animals come to us at a time when they are most vulnerable due to their age and medical conditions. We have been rescuing these special animals since 2010. However, we recently reached a pivotal point in our journey. We were not able to secure a permit to continue operating out of our home due to our location. But we know there is still a huge need for Old Souls to continue saving animals, so this DOES NOT mean that we have closed our doors! We are still a federally and state recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in good standing, and we are the only animal rescue here in Yuma, Arizona. OUR DOORS REMAIN OPEN … we are moving on and moving forward!!!

Because of the incredible support and encouragement we have received from our community and supporters everywhere, we have decided to move to the country where we can rescue animals without restrictions! This will allow us to expand our animal retirement home, and better serve those who need us, not just in Yuma, but in communities all over the southwest desert. Elderly people going into nursing homes and hospice care will be able to continue to count on us to take in their aging animals. Military families who are re-stationed overseas will be able to leave their old animals with us so they don’t need to make the difficult trip. And high kill shelters where geriatric and special needs animals are routinely euthanized will be able to take advantage of our services as an outlet to give those animals a last chance at happiness.

We have our eye on a couple of properties. One is a piece of land where we can put a manufactured home or build from scratch, and the other is an existing home on acreage. YOU will help us decide which of those will happen because the amount of donations that we receive will determine how we proceed. To start, we need to raise $70,000 to purchase the land. If we exceed that amount, we will be able to add a manufactured home, or perhaps we will be able to purchase the $359,000 dream home that we found that would be perfect for an animal retirement home! I can picture it now … cumfy couches, orthopedic dog beds, a grassy yard, a pool for canine hydrotherapy, and loving volunteers all caring for the Old Souls animals.
