Hello! My name is Sera Joy, and I am the producer of this short film project that my team and I are doing for our final year at LASALLE College of the Arts! We are currently looking for funding support for our Final Year Thesis Short Film, Okusan!
Here's a little bit more about the story;
Okusan is a war drama set in 1943, Singapore. Mei Na, a pregnant comfort woman plans her escape from the comfort home, but is ultimately confronted by the father of her child- a Japanese Soldier.
The idea for Okusan was born after our Director, Syaza Agape, watched a war film and decided that she too wanted to make a war film using the voices of the forgotten - Women. While other war films glorify battle and bloodshed, Okusan focuses on what it truly means to be a woman and mother during wartime.
WHAT WE NEED
We are seeking to raise $6000 in order to make Okusan a reality.
Your support, big or small will help us to fund:
-Props and Costumes rental for the Japanese Soldiers and Comfort Women
- Actors' fees
-Production expenses including transport, meals, generator rental etc
Covid-19 has hit the film industry hard this year. As students, we feel the impact deeply as Covid-19 has taken its toll on conventional funding grants and job opportunities. However, we are rising up beyond the difficulty and are taking our learning into our hands! By funding our film, you are helping us make our dreams into a real and tangible reality!
Check our Instagram for more updates on who we are, and what we're up to!
Thank you for supporting the next generation of filmmakers! ❤️
