Dear friends, family, mermen and mermaids of Octopuses Garden, we kindly ask for your help.

2020 was supposed to be our best and busiest season after 5 years with loads of work. We where looking towards many exciting projects, then covid hit. But we where optimistic, and thought now we have time to do other exciting things.

Then an unexpected storm hit, big waves brought some huge logs to the shore, they crushed the wrong pillars on the main building, with our diving center, doorm, kitchen, dining table, bar and hangout area. In the early early morning when the low tide came, the house kneeled and brought with it our pier in a big horrible crash.

Luckily all cats, dogs and humans where not there and everyone is safe.

And now we have octopuses and barracudas, not only in our garden, but in our living room and kitchen aswell.

This will not break us, we have every intention on staying on Koh Sdach for years to come, cleaning the reefs for trash, looking after the fishes and corals, and bringing divers from the world to see the beauty of Cambodia under water.

Like the Bird Pehnix we will rise from the ashes.

So we now have to reach out to our mermaids and mermen, we need your help to come up on our feet again before the rainy season sets in in July.

We have all the diving gear, boat and compressor so we still operate more or less as normal with the diving. but for the moment we need to swim out to the boat.

We also lost so much more, solar system, all padi books and paper, washing machine, fridge, electronics, the list continues and it is so much longer than we would like to admit.

Now we need to rebuild, and in the middle of Covid, our situaton is a bit tought, as for everyone else, guests and bookings disappeared over night.

We will be so grateful for every contribution to help rebuild our lovely diving center, so our boat and dining table will again be filled with laughter and diving stories from all over the world.

There is a lot of useable materials in the old house, so now we are tearing it down. and we will use what we can to rebuild a new house on the mainland.

But we still need big amounts of timber, materials and hands to rebuild the pier and replace what was lost and damaged during the storm.

We want to use local builders and keep on contributing to our local community.

With your help we have plans to build a new and better pier with a new smaller house, we move our diving area in to the mainland and with your help we hope the hammocks will soon be hanging above the water in front of the diving center.

Thank you so much to all friends that have allready showed their support.

Hope to see you soon in our Octopuses Garden.

Lots of Love from Koh Sdach

Kristoffer & Hege
