Oatlands & Oatleight Care Village: League of Friends

As many of you will know, at the beginning of the year I was planning on running the Virgin London Marathon, raising money for a worthy local cause in the process; Oatlands & Oatleigh Care Village. Unfortunately a calf tear put an end to those plans less than a week before the Marathon. I am still very keen to raise money for Oatlands & Oatleigh, and with this in mind would like to invite you all to sponsor me for the Gosport Half Marathon on 17^th November.

Oatlands & Oatleigh is a specialist dementia care home in Anerley. The money I raise will contribute to the work of Oatlands & Oatleigh's League of Friends, which is in the process of being set up and once established will work to enhance the variety of activities and entertainments available to the residents. 

In 2008 my Great Aunt Josie was a resident at Oatlands where she received excellent specialist care from the staff at the care home, who were also happy to help my Nan during this difficult time. It is this which first drew my attention to the good work that Oatlands & Oatleigh do. Not to mention that with the number's suffering with dementia in the UK growing steadily, I believe that the work of specialist care homes like Oatlands & Oatleigh are becoming increasingly more important and relevant to every single one of us.
