The Oasis Project for refugees is running an appeal to raise funds for the creation of a family and community garden at the Oasis Centre in Larnaca, Cyprus.
Inspired by donations made in memory of the death of one of our volunteers, Andi Dyason, and designed by the Permaculture Association of Cyprus, this garden project will create a place of refreshment and relaxation for refugees and their families. There will be flower gardens to enjoy, vegetable beds created for planting their own vegetables and a play area for children.
All donations will go directly towards purchasing materials for the children’s play area, a water collection and recycling area, plants, herbs, shrubs and environmentally friendly materials for pathways and infrastructure for the garden.
The garden is being putting together by volunteers who are dedicated to providing a functional and beautiful space for the refugee community in Larnaca.
May 28th is the date in which the Permaculture Association of Cyprus will build the playground and water collection area, prepare the beds, cover the pathways with woodchip and do some planting.
Collection of funds will continue until June 20th, World Refugee Day. On this date, Oasis will announce the total amount of funds raised.
