NYC Model United Nations

Dear donor,

I am Mirheta Omerovic, 21 years old Bosnian student at "Ca'Foscari" University of Venice, studying International management. I am a hardworking student and I am giving my best to achieve my goals all the time.

I participated in many domestic and international conferences in order to learn how to drive and bring positive change in my community and country. I was president of Local department in Association of Students and vice-president of Network of students for BiH. I finished Harvard Summer School and became a motivator in my community through Active citizen’s program in BiH.

When I was 18 years old I decided to look for a better future for me and search for international experience. I dreamed about studying in Italy and my parents were not able to finance my dreams…I applied and ended up getting a scholarship for college and my dream became truth.

Now my dream is to work for UN Youth Development Department and help the youth. I want to help young people not only in my country, but people all over the world to bring positive changes in their communities.

Few months ago I participated in a conference for youth internationalization policies in BIH which was organized by the British Council. I am interested in the European Union idea as well and this year I was chosen as "Best international delegate" on IEFA, 2015 in Yerevan, Armenia. Also, I participated in VIMUN (Model United Nations) in Vienna this year, when I was selected as the honorable delegate.

I will be considerably closer to my dream to work for UN if I succeed to complete this milestone which is one of the final steps to the career of my dreams.

So, why I am writing all this?

Basically, an amazing event happened in my life. I found out that I won the scholarship of 700 euros for participating in Model United Nations in NYC. Anyhow, the full cost of participation is 1865 Euros, so I would have to pay 1165 Euros myself.

Honestly, I don't have this money. I was thinking so much if I should write this, because it's embarrassing and firstly I was thinking that is stupid to search money for this. There are many urgent cases, like people who are sick and with some big problems. But then I realized that this is my dream. It's my dream to enter the building of UN in NYC and participate this event. This will bring me a step closer to work for this amazing organization and I really want to try even this way of funding it.

I am not a person trying to trick you

and asking you to finance my trip to NY just for the sake of travel and

sightseeing. This fundraising appeal is part of my Career planning and it

brings me closer to my personal goals and closer to the VALUES that I will

stand for.
